There’s a theory that says that certain background noises will help you sleep. These sounds generally fall into three categories.  Before I proceed, let me explain that all the downloads we offer are “raw” sound – meaning you get an hour of noise, that’s it.  (It’s all you need – I use the 1-hour brown noise MP3, works great.)

However, if you want to invest in a specific program guaranteed to work for you, you should check out SleepTracks.  Also, please register at left to get all this information sent to you for easy reference.

Water/Jungle sounds

These are recordings of rainfall, brooks, thunderstorms, birds in the jungle, and so forth. You can buy alarm clocks that have these sounds built in. However, here is a free 60 minute download called “Thunderstorm” that you can play on your MP3 player or computer, or burn to a CD:

White, Pink, and Brown Noise

These are recordings that sound like a constant background hiss and have utility for blocking out other background noises. You can buy white noise machines, however you can also download the sound files for free and play them on your computer or MP3 player, or burn them to a CD.  (As I mentioned above, I use the 1-hour brown noise MP3).

Binaural Sounds

These are low frequency sounds, also known as alpha, beta, delta, and theta waves.  Each wave ranges corresponds to the natural frequency of brainwaves during certain periods.  For example, theta waves are associated with periods of dreaming and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.  Alpha waves are associated with relaxation and drowsiness.  Beta waves are associated with alertness.  Each of these downloads is 10 minutes long.  Try each one and see what works for you:
